Morphing Drum Modules

These 5 modules are emulations of the Prok Drum hardware modules.

Whilst there may be some minor differences, they are as close to the hardware as possible in software.

Patches made for hardware are completely compatible with these software modules.

The emulations also provide options to match the hardware such as 12 bit output, distortion resolution and CV range.

NOTE : The Editor application is NOT compatible with the VCV Drum Modules at this time. It is only compatible with actual hardware.

Bass Drum

The Bassdrum synthesis engine can take you anywhere from the simple 808 / 909 one oscillator bassdrum sound, to screaming hardcore kicks that combinine four oscillators, two waveshapers and a noise source. You want solid, it does solid. You want banging distorted harmonics you get them too. Use the X and Y controls to find your sweet spot or create ever evolving drums by morphing between patches.

Snare Drum

Snappy stuff. Splashy things. Sounds a bit like the 808 and 909 but BETTER and does more than both combined. 2 oscillators and a specially crafted shift register based noise source. The 909 has one but this one is based on the famous SID chip. It also features variable sample rate so you can reach that sweet airy high noise as well as those low down digital dirty noise grains.

Clap

Take 3 noise sources - White, Pink and DIGI, mix them, waveshape them, run them through filters and special clap envelopes. Add a touch more filtering and some reverb. C C C CLAP. etc. There’s a huge variety of clap sounds available, from crispy X0X and Linn style to the tight RZ-1.

Hi Hat

Clicky sounds, metallic sounds. 6 square wave oscillators and a SID style noise generator are routed through a web of filters, envelopes and waveshapers. It can also make chords and drones or can be used as a weird noise source.

Klonk

General percussion synthesizer module. From rim to tom to all manner of weird and wonderful percussion sounds.

Drum Expander

Expander module that can be attached to the right hand side of any drum. Provides controls and modulation for Tuning, Decay and Quad Select.Now you can tune your drums (1v/Oct) easily. Make basslines with the Bass Drum, Slide the pitch your snare rolls. Play melodies with Klonk. The decay control can both shorten and lengthen the envelope decay times in each drum. Make them super tight and short, or make them long like a Gong. The Quad select section gives you an easy way to control or modulate the active quad in a module.

Morph Modes and Banks

Each bank of sounds on a drum module is made up of 16 individual patches.

These are laid out into 4 quads: A,B,C and D and 3 larger layouts : Horizontal Ribbon (H), Vertical Ribbon (V) and Large Square (L)

The first four quads are straightforward - one patch in each corner of the morph square.

The Horizontal ribbon is an 8x2 layout : 8 patches along the top X axis and 8 along the bottom X.

The Vertical ribbon is a 2x8 layout : 8 patches along the left Y axis and 8 along the right X.

The large square is all 16 patches in a 4x4 layout.

The ribbons and large square layouts place patches in different orders so that they each feature unique morph settings.

Each drum module comes with a number of alternative banks which you can load via the context menu.

Utility Modules

The collection also includes 10 modules based on the morphing modules internal architecture which enable you to build your own custom drum synthesizers (or indeed anything you can imagine, not just drums).

Includes specialised modules for Drum and Clap envelopes.

Custom noise generators with a specialised DIGI noise mode based on a shift register and more.

Clap Envelope

Clap Envelope Generator. Specially designed envelope to recreate the rapid-retrigger sound of a drum machine clap.

  • Rolls - Number of rolls at start of the clap sound
  • Roll Attack - Attack time for a single roll
  • Roll Decay - Decay time for a single roll
  • Decay - Final decay time

Drum Envelope

Envelope with Attack and 2 stage Decay. Perfect for shaping percussion envelopes.

  • EX LEVEL - Breakpoint level. Controls where the breakpoint starts within the decay stage
  • EXTEND - Decay stage 2 scaling. Extends (or shortens) the 2 part of the decay stage.

Pair of resonant biquad filters with switchable Low Pass, Band Pass and High Pass modes.

Quad Selector Expander

Control the current Quad from a knob or CV by placing this module on the right hand side of any drum module.

Shifty Business

Shift register based random noise generator.

Controls

  • Rate - Rate of change
  • Slow/Fast - Choose between low speed output (control range) or high speed (audio range)
  • INT/EXT - Internal or External clock. With EXT selected the Rate controls have no effect.
  • UNI/BI - Unipolar (0 to 10) or Bipolar output (-5 to +5).

Six Square Feet

Two banks of 3 square wave oscillators. Each bank of 3 has a base frequency for the 1st oscillator and 2 ratios for the remaining oscillators.

  • OSC BANK FREQUENCY - Base frequency for the bank of 3 oscillators

Skin In The Game

One oscillator with full 3 stage envelopes for both frequency modulation and amplitude. Ideal for crafting bass drums and adding a tonal layer to other drum sounds. 1v/Octave input is provided for easy tuning and melodic purposes.

Win Win Situation

A pair of oscillators each with a frequency and amplitude envelope. The envelopes are slightly simplified with just attack and decay time controls. Perfect for creating snare and tom body sounds.
